You can continue to wear the gloves you've always worn. It's just that you can't wear a glove weight lighter than your weight category designates for you. As for "...punching is so much more fun with lighter gloves!" is concerned: It's ok until you're the one on the receiving end.

 Yeah, you're right.

I've never had to wear 10's before! Where the feck do I get a pair of them at this stage?
Ah well, punching is so much more fun with lighter gloves! :D

Thanks Sydne, you beat me to it. In addition, however, and in case it interests anyone regarding ages, etc. This is the contents of the full page:

Savate Categories

1. Definition:
1.1 - Savate contestants who participate in matches are called TIREURS (male) or TIREUSES (female).

2. Savate Age Categories:
2.1 - Divisions: Based on their age, the "tireurs" are divided into 8 different age categories which are:

Pré-poussin(e) 7-8-9 years old  
Poussin(e) 10-11 years  
Benjamin(e) 12-13 years old  
Minime 14-15 years old  
Cadet(te) 16-17 years old  
Junior(e) 18-19-20 years old  
Senior(e) 21 à 34 years old  
Vétéran(te) 35 years old and more
 
2.2 - Age calculation: Age is determined by the calendar year at the end of the current season and by the year of birth.
Example: for the 95-96 season, a Tireur born in 1978 is 18 (96-78=18).

3. Savate Weight Categories:
3.1 - Definition: Based on their weight, the "tireurs" are divided into

Weight Categories for Men:

Plumes moins de 56kg
Légers 56-60kg inclus
Super-légers 60-65kg inclus
Mi-moyens 65-70kg inclus
Super-mi-moyens 70-75kg inclus
Moyens 75-80kg inclus
Mi-lourds 80-85kg inclus
Lourds Plus de 85kg


Women's weight categories

Mouches moins de 48Kg
coqs 48-52kg inclus
Plumes 52-56kg inclus
Légères 56-60kg inclus
Super-légères 60-65kg inclus
Mi-moyens 65-70kg inclus
Super-mi-moyens 70-75kg inclus
Moyens plus de 75Kg


4. The gloves to be used by all athletes, men and women, are:

8 onces for weight categories up to 60 Kg
10 onces for weight categories from 60 to 75 Kg included
12 onces for weight categories from 75 to 85 Kg included
14 onces for weight categories more than 85 Kg

What are the current weight categories, before I enter my fighters?
I think we're onto 5 kilo categories for each now but I can't find it on this forum...
