I have taken this issue up with Decathelon as to whether of not the boot is FIS approved. Please find below my enquiry and the answer. You can make up your own minds? I still think it is a great value boot, ideal for training and training fights (Assaut).

Votre question :
Is this boot approved by the French Federation or the Federation Internationale de Savate?

Dear Mister,
This boot is using by an international champion of french boxing. Its OK for the FIS.
HI They might be OK if the back of the sole is not cutting (like the others). Any way, you've have time before the world championship. But honestly, if you plan to pratise savate for a long time don't hesitate to buy, as Rossy says, some Rivat one. Expensive but probably the best at the moment. Have a good day
I have now taken delivery of a pair of these boots. There are actually very good boots....BUT........the heel is rigid and toughened and frankly these could be potentially lethal in COMBAT competitions. I would hate to take a turning revers lateral to the head in one of these!!!!!
What a shame ! I am a little annoyed that they are advertised as Boxe Francaise Boots, but without any qualifying statements about 'approvals' or 'fitness'.
They are fine for training, holding the foot well in the correct position for the fouette pique. I hope that they would be acceptable in National ASSAUT competitions as well, due to the controlled contact aspect of the event. Still worth buying therefore, if your interests are restricted in terms of competitions and titles.
VERY well picked up Valerie.....only wish the manufacturers were a little more forthright in their description.
Well done Valerie - these are the "Cheap" imitation boots. Fine to train in, possibly OK for National competitions, but not acceptable for International Events.Sick with "Rivat" to be sure / safe for 2008 World Championships.
Be carefull, because if it's like decathlon in France, they provided some savate shoes which were not accepted for competition because of the back of the sole. The name was Domyos, and there were blue. Maybe, they've put some different one in England.....
I did know that Decathalon in Canary Wharf (London) stocked Savate gear for a while but stopped "stocking" it or displaying it. Great to hear that they will order it in......my old boomerang boots are about ready for renewal. Might be a nice Christmas pressie for me from me te he he, ho ho ho.
Did you know that Decathalon sell great value Savate boots for only £32.95. The boots are very good quality and stylish as well. There are a few Decathlon stores throughout England. There's one at Lakeside for instance. The boots are not in stock at these UK stores, but if you ring then up, they will get the boots in from their suppliers and you can pick them up from the store. Takes about a week to get them in stock.
Beats paying £90.00 + to get the boots from France.
