This is indeed fantastic news. I also announced it on the Martial Arts Planet Forum and, typically, received the usual 'dissing' from some Muppet or other, without anything better to do with his time than post negative comments on internet forums. Maybe it also has something to do with the fact that his particular form of fighting discipline isn't recognised.

This Saturday, 1st March 2008, in China, the Executive Committee of FISU unanimously accepted the candidacy of Savate to hold official University World Championships in Assaut. Alexander WALNIER (Belgium) presented the file to 26 members of the Executive Committee of FISU on behalf of the International Federation of Savate. The 1st World University Championship will be organized in Nantes in June 2010.

The President of the International Savate Federation, Gilles Le Duigou, would like to express his thanks to all the people, from several countries, who worked on the FISU bid. V
