I've managed to be quite good the last few weeks with running and stuff for fitness.
Do seem to be picking up a lot of injuries too though. Twisted ankle last week and this week have done the other foot by hyper-extending the ankle with a clashed kick, brusing the top, brusing the ball/big toe and ripping the nail off another toe!
"This week, I'll mainly be doing left foot kicks"
Hope to see you all there,
James

The Great Britain Savate Federation will hold the final phase of its 2006 National Savate Assaut League competition (event 4 of 4) in Cambridge on Sunday 10th December.
Now, when you said RSVP ASAP, Ollie, did that mean that the date's flexible for people who, ooh, bought tickets to a festival ages ago (Iggy & the Stooges & Sonic Youth! And a load of other pretentious subculture bands I've never heard of, but never mind them) and therefore will be in a Butlins in Minehead on 10 December? People like...me?
But, then again, I'm sure that everyone's busy in December - I certainly couldn't do a date between Christmas and New Year.
However, there stands my RSVP.
At League Event 3 it was said that James would aim for 10th if he was going to host it in London. Whatever date we decide on there's bound to be someone who'll say they can't make it. Enzo from Cambridge has been unable to make all three events so far, simply because the dates fell at bad times for him.
Tommy: Useless motherf****r, that's what she called me. I told her, I'm sorry, but these things happen. Let's put it behind us. Spud: That's fair enough. Tommy: Yes, but then she finds out I've bought a ticket for Iggy Pop the same night. Spud: Went ballistic? Tommy: Big time. Absolutely f*****g radge. 'It's me or Iggy Pop, time to decide.' Spud: So what's it going to be? Tommy: Well, I've paid for the ticket.

The date originally agreed was Sunday 10th December. As James Southwood has now said he is unable to host the event in London, Cambridge is willing to step in. We will need to confirm that date with Coleridge, however, if the rest of you are happy for us to host it again?
xmas to new year not good for me, as will be out of the country.
hurray! a thread of mine has become useful...
oh, and i wasn't totally sure, but i thought that none of the french fighters were 'official' last time round? i got the impression that the only 'official' fights were the match ups held before the lunch break...
edit: james, that table was exactly what i had in mind, but i couldn't find a link to it from your website. perhaps that table could grace the official site too.
League 4 almost certainly will not be hosted by London. My current extreme poverty procludes it, I'm afraid. We need to talk with other potential hosts (Hi Ollie ), as I agree with the date discussion below.
Good thread Dom, I could really do with a date too.
I've got all sorts of family commitments coming up and need to make sure I'm free.
And as you say, it might help get me out of my current training aparthy too!
Or atleast get me away from comments like this by Richard h yesterday: "You are really sh1t today James"
Thanks Richard!
Cheers, James

Any ideas when the fourth and final league event might be? If it's in December, there will probably be a fair few scheduling conflicts across the board, unless there's a date down nice and early. Also might help shake me out of my current training apathy.
Also has anyone got any current league standings? would be interesting to see them all in a big shiny table.
I would like to draw any competitor notice to the fact that this event will take place under "Mat" rules as we do not own a ring and current financial difficulties mean we cannot hire a ring in. The fight area will be clearly marked on a wooden gym style floor, fighter's would be well advised to bring along a selection of footwear - Rivat Savate boots may be too slippery to wear safely on this type of floor surface. Footsweeps and aerial jump spinning kicks will be permitted but care and conrol will be needed as landing could prove diffiult on the slippery floor.
A reminder to you all that the GBSF 2006 Savate Assaut League Event 3 will take place this coming Sunday, 24th September, and that you need to get your entries in before midnight on Wednesday 20th September.
The venue will be: Broadwater School, Farncombe (near Guildford), Surrey.
There will again be 8 different weight categories for both male and female competitors. These are as follows:
It's also worth remembering that, in addition to the 8 individual weight categories, for both male and female competitors, there are also (potentially) nine different age categories to be fought for. These are as follows:
Hiya - there may be 3-4 French fighters coming and of course Valerie & Neil will be there.I am not expecting a massive turn out for this event as it is just one week after the World Assaut Championships but........it all counts towards the UK titles and league positions. Only the hardiest will survive.
This event is "low key" and will take place on marked area on a gym type floor possibly without any mats.
i hope no-one has picked up anything too debilitating at the Worlds, and is ready and raring to go for the main event that is the broadwater school extravaganza.
do we know if any ringers from france, or anyone out of the ordinary, are planning on turning up? because if there are, i may have to attempt to limit the effects of my inevitable hangover. i'm not tony, after all...
Really enjoyed the event so many thanks to everyone involved in arranging it.
Also to Rossy for driving us up there.
Thanks! :)
James

Yes, I'd also like to thank everyone who helped in any way before, during and after the event.
For those who haven't tried it, it is difficult to be a fighter and an official - you just don't get the preparation time (physical or mental) that you opponent may be having. Richard did particularly well to win his division after spending so much of the day officiating! Personally, having been so unwell for the previous 10 days, I was just pleased to get through three rounds. The same probably applies to Ollie and Morgan who had also been quite ill - shows true Brit grit, I reckon!
Charly, Colombe, Rossy, Jon W, James S, Laura, Chris and Rachel also put in a lot of time officiating - thanks to all (and anyone I might've missed).
Sounds like you are gonna be "burning into the wee hours" - have you considered maybe sending a "master" copy to an IT place so they could burn lots of copies.
I would like a copy of Event 2 plus two copies of Event 1 (one for me and one for Valerie King).
Many thanks, let me know how much this will be please.
Hi Julie, I'd like to order 2 copies of the 1st event DVD (one for me and one to send to Valerie King to thank her for her efforts on the day).
I'd also like a copy of the 2nd event DVD (once it is made).
Many thanks for all your work, before the event, during the event and obviously after the event in the editing and production stage of making these wonderful memento's of the day.
