Just a few words to thank everyone for attending last weekend, whether competing, spectating, or judging/timekeeping/refereeing.
The French group were a particularly useful and welcome addition to proceedings - not least the fact that they provided us with extra Officials on the day. Thanks to Gael for arranging that (and well done in your fights).
I would also like to thank Claire, Morgan, 'Sheff' and Tim for coming along on Saturday to assist us in erecting the ring - it still took three hours by the way! Thanks also to the many who stayed behind on Sunday to help in dismantling and putting it away again.
I would also like to thank Jen for her stirling work (again) on the video camera. Hopefully, we'll get the DVD's out a bit quicker this time. Jen also 'worked the door' for a time too, so thanks to her for doing that.
Thanks also to Morgan for timekeeping for much of the day, even though she wasn't feeling 100% and was also competing.
And finally, thanks to Julie for virtually organising the event (almost single-handed) and ensuring things ran well on the day, and for getting the first DVD edited and out - with virtually hours to spare.
First batch of DVDs for event 1 sold out on sunday - we will be producing a second batch, so let me know if you want one...
Julie,
Im glad i bought my copy of the first event on sunday,i thought the dvds were really well put together, you could see very clearly what was going on in the fights.
I enjoyed watching all the fights again and seeing what i missed before.
Ide recommend the dvds to everyone, good value,2 dvds with 31 fights.
As Ross has had problems in securing a suitable venue, in Guildford, for the 2nd GBSF 2006 Savate Assaut League event (scheduled for 25th June) it has been agreed that we will host the competition in Cambridge again.
Please get your entries in to us by the 12th June.

Yes you're right Gael. It's a new ring, and there was (and still is) a problem with it. The makers are supposed to be coming down to sort it out.
We think that the 'female' slots are too big for the corresponding 'male' parts - a not uncommon phenomenon apparently!
Once the problem has been corrected we should be able to tighten the ropes some more.

Before September, are there any information about June's event? Have you decided where the next event will take place? Because I want to be there. There are two girls and one guy who are interested (depending on the day). They are serious and they won't get lost in London as Smael's students did
I am training hard to meet the level of your competition.
regards

Will it have any special features? Transcripts of background comments ("KICK HIM IN THE HEAD! THE HEAD!")? Interviews with fighters where they reveal their sensitive side? A behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of The (Savate) Ring?
can you reserve a DVD for me too. i wasn't able to make it to the fight but i will gladly have a DVD. give me your address & postal details and i will send you the payment
We have the results and a few pics from the league event in Cambridge on the GBSF website: http://www.savate.org/2006LeagueEvent1.htm If you have any good pics that you'd like included, please email them to me...
Julie,
The pics came out really good, well done to the photographer.
An Official DVD of the entire event - which will be around 3 hours long - will be available soon. We hope to price them at around £12 each. Please get your orders in so that we can produce the number required and not do too many or too few on the first run at least.
To all of you who taped the competition: is there any chance we could get a copy of it? It'd be nice to be able to keep a record of all that, and as it was my first fight as well, I'd love to be able to see what I need to work on.
