points for wins makes sense i suppose! anyway the whole thing works so that's cool. just looking at the table tho i think danny's missing from my weight, and alain seems to have an extra point..!
if you fight one fight and win it, that's worth 1 + 1 = 2 pts if you fight one fight, but lose it, that's worth 1 + 0 = 1 pt if you fight one fight, and draw it, that's worth 1 + 0.5 = 1.5 pt
plus the additional placing points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
if there's only 2 in the category, e.g. one fight, the category winner would get 8 points, the loser (second place) would get 4
in most categories, the winner finishes with between 8 and 12 points (compared to 10 across the board in the old system) - although, in the last event, Charlie scored 14!
not trying to pick any holes, but 1 point for a win? same as just fighting, and half a point more than a draw?? seems a bit odd to me... tho i suppose winning the category makes up the points difference. meh.
placing in own category on the day: 1st = 6 pts 2nd = 3 pt 3rd = 1 pt
number of fights 1 pt per fight in own category
number of wins 1 pt per win in own category 0.5 pt per draw in own category
(plus, points or half points - depending on whether fighting up-weight or down-weight - for people fighting out of category e.g. to give a "singleton" a fight on the day)
e.g. fighter A wins his category, having fought a total of three fights, and drawing 1 and winning 2: =6+3+2.5 = 11.5
fighter B "wins" her category having fought 1 fight against a fighter from a higher category, but losing it: =6+1=0 = 7
fighter C has one fight, one loss in own category of two fighters, but then is jolly nice and fights fighter B (the singleton): =4+1+0 = 5 for own category, but gains an additional 0.5 for the fight against B, so total of 5.5 for the day
fighter A had more fights and more success on the day than fighter B, so deserves this to be reflected in the points...

we came to the conclusion that the points scores should be more indicative of the effort put in - the old system awarded 10 points to the category winner regardless of the number of contestants in a category or the number of fights they'd had on the day
the new system is more complex, but acknowledges the following: placing in the category on the day number of fights number of wins
