we've got a canne competition in Quimper the 15th and 16th of april. We call it the "bazathaeg breizh". Last year, gerard was there.
I just went for the saturday afternoon, it was fun, especially for me who never touched a canne before.Charly joly, erwann souben , chantal lucas... that was really a nice day.
If anybody is interested in coming i can put you in touch with the people who organize it.
The GBSF first sent a team to the Canne de Combat World Championships in 2004. The event took place on Reunion Island, Indian Ocean (off the lower west coast of Africa). The French paid for everyone to fly over from Paris. I believe the GBSF team came 6th out of the 8 teams that took part. Hopefully, Canne de Combat will continue to grow in both the number of participants and as a spectator sport.
The top fighters are extremely athletic. They jump in the air (seemingly without much effort) to avoid strikes to the legs, as well as drop down (like Russian Cossack dancers) to avoid strikes to the head whilst, at the same time, delivering their own reply.
